Description
This splendid book brings together the most beautiful horses, chosen and photographed by Patrice Gueritot during all his travels of the last three years. From the Icelandic Pony, photographed on his island, to the Pottok of the Basque Country, via the Barb-Arabs of Morocco, the Spanish Thoroughbreds in Andalusia, or the Criollos in Patagonia, this book celebrates about twenty breeds of equines in France and around the world. This is Patrice Gueritot's second book, after “Cavalcades” which was a great success.
Imposing and majestic animals, horses fascinate, especially when they are in their natural environment. Wild horses or just in their element, alone or in herds, tender with their foal, alternately astonishing and moving, these remarkable animals are “captured” photographically for your greatest pleasure.
Author
Patrice Gueritot was born in France in 1962, but it is to his childhood spent in Ivory Coast that he owes his open-mindedness, his tolerance, his interest in others and his taste for travel. He grew up in contact with a mosaic of populations and religions, in the heart of the tropical forest, surrounded by wild animals. It was already as a teenager that his desire to be a photographer appeared.
Returning to mainland France, he first completed postgraduate studies at Orsay. There he obtained a DEUG in animal biology, scientific photography option before making a 180° turn to return to his first love by following professional training in advertising photography at the Gobelins school. What followed was a year of photo reporting for SIRPA in the shadow of the French flag. Today, Patrice has had the joy of having a job that fascinates him for thirty years. He works in the women's press, children's press, advertising and catalogs. During these thirty years of practice, his career has been marked by more personal research which materializes in the form of books, art prints (he exhibits regularly) or which is integrated into advertising visuals.
Whatever the purpose of the shot he takes, it is the result of a sensitive and creative approach, which gives a major place to the choice of light, shooting angles and staging. , in order to highlight the photographed subject.
